I was born in Colombia, a country that has beautiful
weather. The lowest the temperature got was fifty degrees and the highest it
got was seventy-five degrees. When I moved to the United States I first went to
California. The weather there was warmer and I enjoyed it a little bit more
than the weather in Colombia. One time when I was in California I experienced
warm rain. Yes I said warm rain!! When it rained in Colombia it wasn't cold,
but it wasn't warm either. So when I experienced warm rain I thought it was interesting
that it felt warm while it was raining. Well the whole reason I'm talking about
these experiences that I had in the other two places that I have been is
because after nine months in California I moved here to Illinois. When I moved
here it was the first time I ever saw snow or experienced winter. When I lived
in Colombia they showed us movies that had snow in. They always showed kids playing in the snow and having a good
time. This made me want to experience snow someday because I thought it was the
most beautiful thing in the world. I still think that is beautiful but something
that the movies never showed me was that snow is COLD. Since the day I found
out that snow is cold I decided I did not like winter or anything that had to
do with it.
This winter has been totally different. I know that it
has snowed and it has been cold but not like other winters in the past. Although
is winter in my opinion it doesn’t feel like it. This winter has brought sunny
days, which has made me enjoy winter very much. Even though I love this weather,
I can’t help but ask is this a trick from Mother Nature?
I love your cultural perspective here, Andrea!
